I'm sharing what I learn as I travel my free motion quilting adventure! I'm a quilting instructor and Janome dealer. My passion is encouraging others in any avenue of creativity, and my specialty is free motion quilting. My signature technique is using rulers and templates to guide free motion stitching on regular sewing machines or sit-down long arm machines. You can learn more about me, my store, and more at AmyQuilts.com or visit Sew Simple of Lynchburg in Lynchburg VA. I enjoy sharing these videos with you. They're full of honest looks at free motion quilting, ruler work, tips, techniques, sewing machine education and even a few mistakes and fixes along the way.
Quilting Designs: Free Motion Feather Filler
This feather filler can be done in any size for great texture on your quilt. I have a lot of videos about quilting feather designs, but this one: ruclips.net/video/snGP5yKiC7E/видео.htmlsi=wzezD7Id025BIlcw
is probably the most basic introduction to making feathers for beginners. Check it out if you find yourself needing more help with making feathers.

Free Motion Quilting takes practice, but that practice can be fun. This video is edited from an earlier live video on the AmyQuilts-Sew Simple FB page. Just a fat quarter, a marked circle and an idea for a wreath. It will likely be a table topper or a pillow. Hi! I’m Amy K Johnson, a Janome dealer and owner of Sew Simple of Lynchburg. Sunday Musings; Quilt Guilt? Say No to Guilt Over Your Hobby
Просмотров 465Год назад
Just some Sunday musings about creativity, guilt, especially guilt over quilting and sewing materials. Why do we feel we have to justify these things? As I use watercolors for my personal non-workplace creative hobby these days, I throw away my paintings pretty often. But I hear (and say it myself) justifications or guilt over the purchase of fabrics and threads, also machines at my shop, Sew S...

Gorgeous! Are you using the foot pedal or the stop/go button?
THANK YOU. I had not clicked-in that little silver hook and thought I had paid for a terrible option. It works much better now :)
Glad I could help!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
I would like to join the clubhouse I have a m7
Check it out at AmyQuilts.teachable.com
That is so beautiful and all with no stinseling
thanks!
Is there a speed regulator on the foot pedal of the Janome Atelier 7
No there isn't. Only Janomes to have stitch regulator compatibility is the CM17, M8 and 9480
Your machine is moving at a regular pace, is there a setting on the machine to set that pace or is it just foot control on the pedal.
Why use the thread color that doesn’t show very well on this section on tension? I love what I can see, but why not accent the contrast?
Because this wasn't going to be just a sample piece.
Hi can you tell me where is the bobbin sensor? Thanks.
It depends on the model. Your average machine won't have a bobbin level sensor. Janome has 2 different types. The first is mechanical and uses that little silver arm you are seeing on this bobbin holder for just part of it. The arm is often also on machines that don't have the sensor. The Continental series uses an optical sensor.
@@AmyQuilts I have a Janome 400e
Where do you find quilt and slide? Thank you for this excellent video!
Best tip ever! Thanks!
That is really clever! I'm sure I'll be using this technique.
Thank you! But I hope you don't have to use it too often.
excusez-moi je viens de comprendre merci
bonjour j'aie de la difficultée a comprendre vous avez quelque chose en français merci
Wish you would’ve explained better or shown a clearer photo of where you put the needle after you come out of the fold. Did you enter the fold on one end, come out the other end of fold and then go thru back? or just one end of fold then the backing? It wasn’t really clear. Do you go just above or just below the line of machine stitching when go thru back? Go a lot slower too. you only showed like two or three stitches then switched to whip stitch.
The only thing thats bad about this machine is .....its the price of a car lol
Mmmm....have you priced cars lately? LOL
Perfect size stitching!
Amy, The can this Accu Feet be used on any Janome sewing machine? I love your videos keep up the great work 😊
Thank you for an excellent review of the HP and HP2 feet. Just ordered my 6700, can't wait to try them out.
It’s always so relaxing watching you quilt. Long time subscriber! Thanks so much!
Thank you!
So helpful and what a stinking cute quilt block!! Would have loved to see the whole thing!!
Thank you.
Umm.. what do you do if it's on a plush toy and you can't get to the back side.
Use a longer needle, just tie to the loop from the front and push the needle through a portion of the stuffy and pull. Trim any thread tails
Luv this Amy!!
Thank you.
Took the confusion out😊
So glad!
My janome mc6650 does the same thing, but it's clean and there's no lint in there at all. I broke a needle but none of it landed inside. The tip was stuck in the thread and the rest was still in it's position. I removed it all gave it a clean, a small drop of oil in the wick and now it's making the rubbing sound. I purchased a new bobbin case thinking it might be that but it still makes the noise. When I remove the case it doesn't make the sound. Was it the oil? I'm confused!
The oil isn't the problem unless you over-oiled (oil didn't get absorbed). I wonder if the hook was damaged when the needle broke. I suggest taking it in to your dealer.
Thank you so much. A thread came loose on my dress. I almost cut it off, not knowing what to do with it. I'm glad I found this video!
Glad I could help!
Really beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
Really pretty
Lovely! Thank you for sharing!
You are so welcome!
Thank you very much!)
Still love watching you Amy!
Thank you.
Супер стёжка!!! Наслаждалась процессом !!
I have a brand new Janome 6700P and this was extremely useful!
I love the 6700P, great machine.
Wow, AMAZING❤❤
Agronomy is soil science. Plant Biology, perhaps?
So effortless. Beautiful.
Well done. I do about a thousand sewing machine repairs/svc/year. The bobbin case clearance bracket (at 5 o'clock) is very easy to mangle and people do mangle it often. If that is damaged the machine won't work. I stopped selling oil to my customers. They were doing a lot of damage with it.
Thanks for sharing!
6:41 Rewatching this video... you mention not using your "pivot function" I'm not familiar with this term. I have a 6700p
The 6700P does not have the pivot function. It's found on machines with an automatic presser foot lift (machine electronics control it
Which needle plate do you use with this foot?
Officially, the straight stitch plate. However, most of the time when I'm quilting I still have the zigzag plate on. If you have a super thin batting, I would definitely switch to the straight stitch plate.
You make it look so easy
A lot of practice makes it look easy
Que r eridiculo solo tu en el mundo tienes esta maquina ...porque a Chile jamas llegara ..que vergüenza Janome.
Excellent demonstration and explanation! You have confirmed that I need to slow down on my curves.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you I bought this cabinet not realizing that it had a dry old Brother sewing machine in it and I couldn't figure it out.
Glad I could help!
My main problem is that my screw comes loose as I sew with the templates. It is fine with regular sewing, it only loosens with the ruler work foot.
Hmmm....I'm going to suggest that you watch and see if you are pushing too hard on the foot with the ruler. If you aren't using a screwdriver to tighten the screw, definitely start to do so.
How can we replace that part that you are explaining. My Jamone have plastic type and broke in the tip.
Thank you
My thread breaks after doing just a few stitches of FMQ with the PD-H foot. Only after I removed the bobbin holder then replaced it along with the bobbin I was able to FMQ. I am using the blue dot bobbin so I am unclear as to why resetting the bobbin holder would make a difference.
Forgot to add that I am using a Janome M7 machine
Very helpful thank you 😊
When using the quilting foot do you drop feed dogs
Yes.
I have always wondered why that little straight notch was on my bobbins. I am almost positive that my manual (mc 10k) didn't mention lining that up with the wire. I stumbled upon this video because I was having issues with my bobbins winding slightly unevenly and now I'm wondering if that was why. I was trying to adjust the bobbin winding thread tension screw to fix it. Thank you for that detailed explanation!
